I tend to teach privately, but will occasionally teach at larger events if the mood strikes. Below are the topics I have presented in the past/currently have available, but I am always open to presenting on other topics if my personal spin on it would be useful or appreciated. Those interested in having me present at their meeting, gathering, conference, etc can email me at mystiknomad @ gmail DOT com. All workshops below can be presented within 60-90 minutes.
Devotional Polytheism 101: Polytheism is a growing segment of Pagan practice, but it can be challenging to figure out where to start or how to approach it. Let’s take some of the mystery out of it. Polytheism 101 explores Polytheism from the ground up: what it is, what makes it different from general Pagan practice, what’s involved with it, how to begin engaging with it, and even how to start establishing your own devotional practice.
Modular Ritual Writing: Ritual facilitation is one of the most rewarding and fulfilling experiences we can have, but sometimes writing a ritual is enough to make us tear our hair out! Relax – it doesn’t have to be that way. This workshop explores how to approach ritual writing in a modular fashion, breaking the process out into smaller parts that are much less intimidating and easier to handle. Rediscover the fun part of ritual writing!
The Joys of Celibacy: In the Pagan/Polytheist/Kink communities we talk all the time about the joys of sex. We rarely talk about the other side of the coin – the joys of celibacy. The uses of temporary celibacy include feeling more embodied in our daily lives, a heightened awareness of our physical senses, stronger boundaries, increased clarity and focus, and greater self-awareness. Topics discussed will include uses of this technique, degrees of celibacy, timing considerations, application techniques, and how to approach this topic with current partners.
Invisible Gags: Speech restrictions are an incredibly potent, but frequently overlooked, type of Ordeal practice. Including everything from titles and vocabulary substitutions to ritualized language and required silences, these low pain/high challenge techniques can be amazingly transformative. Come learn how.
A Ritual of Gestures: Ah, blessed silence. Everything magickal we normally do in our heads with words can be done by our bodies with gestures. Gestures turn the simplest ritual elements into expressive dance, and literally feeling everything we do magickally can dramatically raise energy and deepen focus. During this event we’ll briefly discuss some techniques for ritual gestures, do a simple meditative ritual to practice the techniques, and then discuss how those techniques felt during use.
Beyond Chalices and Blades: Sex magick is a potent and powerful technique for raising energy and creating intentional change. However, sometimes intercourse isn’t practical or possible – asexual practitioners, lack of skilled partners, monogamous relationships that block this technique, health considerations, celibacy vows, etc. Attend this class and learn sex magick techniques beyond the symbolic Great Rite: energetic and symbolic sex, masturbation, mutual masturbation, kink as sex, etc.
Connecting with the Tarot: Let’s face it: tarot can be complicated and overwhelming. There’s so much to learn, and once you’ve got the basics down it can still be challenging to interpret what you see. Don’t despair! There are so many ways to connect with the Tarot that don’t rely on memorizing books! This workshop offers tips and tricks to help us choose the best deck for our reading style, more easily engage with the cards, encourage interpretations that extend beyond the book, boost our signal clarity, and much more. Come prepared to take notes and approach the Tarot in a whole new way!
History of the Tarot: Tarot cards are for reading, but they’re also symbol-laden images with a long and somewhat convoluted history that continues to unfold today. Come learn about the origins of the Tarot, examine examples of some of the oldest decks around, see Tarot develop through the ages, and even discuss some cutting-edge decks pushing the envelope of Tarot as we know it. This is an excellent class to take prior to Creating Your Own Divination System.
Unusual Divination Techniques: Most of us are familiar with divination involving cards, pendulums, celestial bodies, etc. There are a plethora of other options out there, though, that might even suit us better. Check out this class to get a crash course in other types of divination, including (but not limited to): scrying, candles (burning and wax), dice, books, and even computers! This is an excellent class to take prior to Creating Your Own Divination System.
Creating Your Own Divination System: There are thousands of tarot decks alone on the market today, not to mention all the other types of divination out there. Sometimes, though, we’re inspired to create something unique and different. If you’re the type to be inspired then this workshop is for you. We’ll go over ways to sort out the form you want your divination system to take, ways to channel and streamline the creative process, how to approach the infamous “little white book”, the differences between traditional and self-publishing, and much more. If interested in creating a tarot or oracle deck The History of the Tarot is a wonderful class to take prior to this one, while Unusual Divination Techniques is ideal for those looking to develop other systems.
Professional Divination: The step between “divining for self and friends” and “divining professionally” is a big one, and there are a multitude of things to consider before getting started. This workshop explores some of the important issues, including choosing your reading method (in person, over the phone, via email, etc), communication strategies, professional etiquette, timing considerations, pay scales and the ethics of pricing, necessary disclaimers, establishing your “brand”, and much more.
